May Half Term
Wheelchair Fencing
Time:12-4pm (sessions 12-1pm, 1-2pm, 2-3pm & 3-4pm)
Wheelchair fencing is the disability version of Olympic sport of fencing but sat in a chair! It has the same technical, tactical and mental game but in a fixed frame.
Street Swords Fencing Club is hosting a Try Wheelchair Fencing session in Central Hall of the Dolphin Centre Darlington. Instruction and equipment is provided and is being lead by National coach Beth Cranston-Selby.
Wheelchair fencing is suitable for those with lower limb disabilities; spinal injury affecting the legs and lower torso; recovery from leg surgery or injuries. Generally good upper-body strength is needed as participants must be able to hold a fencing sword.
Each session is in 1 hour slots and limited to 4 people to give the maximum experience. Supporters are welcome!
If participants are interested in continuing, Street Swords meets on Mondays with a junior and senior session.
